Titleist had a huge year in 2025 when it comes to driver distance, taking first, second and fifth place in our testing. But that level of dominance hasn’t always been the norm.
We looked back at driver testing data from 2020 to 2025 to see which brands consistently showed up in the top five for distance.
If you’re looking for pure speed and distance off the tee, here are the results—and the brands you might want to prioritize.

Callaway takes the top spot overall with the most first-place finishes since 2020. It won in 2020 with the Mavrik Sub Zero, in 2021 with the Epic Max LS and in 2024 with the AI Smoke Max D.
Even in years it didn’t win, like 2025, Callaway still claimed spots in the top five. Since 2023, the Triple Diamond model has landed in the top five every single year.
If distance is your top priority in 2025, Callaway should be on your list of drivers to test.
Titleist is having a moment

Titleist has been dominant in recent years. Three of the top five spots in 2025 were from Titleist. The brand also earned two top-five spots in 2024 and had strong finishes in 2021 and 2022.
That’s a total of eight top-five finishes across the last six years, more than any other brand.
Titleist was once considered the brand for control and precision preferred by better players but it has become a distance powerhouse regardless of player ability.
COBRA is always in the hunt

COBRA had a top-five driver in five of the last six years. The “LS” models tend to perform well from a distance perspective. In 2025, the DS-ADAPT Max K was a standout performer for the overall best golf driver test and the high swing speed test.
Another great thing about COBRA golf drivers is that they tend to drop in price a little faster than others. Finding a model from a year or two ago can be a great deal if you’re looking for a budget-friendly distance option.
TaylorMade was hot, then cooled off

In 2022 and 2023, the Stealth and Stealth 2 Plus were strong distance drivers from TaylorMade. Since then, they haven’t had a driver crack the top five.
Final thoughts
We’ve completed enough driver testing to know that distance doesn’t tell the whole story. Some of the top drivers for distance struggled with accuracy and forgiveness. However, it’s interesting to see how brands which have been known for distance may change through the years. As always, go for a fitting to make sure you get the best driver for your game.
