A bizarre incident took place during the third ODI of the series between New Zealand and Pakistan at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui where the floodlights turned off while Jacob Duffy was just about to release the ball while bowling to Tayyab Tahir. The unusual moment forced the game to be paused abruptly, taking the players as well as the spectators by surprise.
While Tahir was batting in the 39th over against Jacob Duffy, with the visitors needing 47 off 21 deliveries, the lights suddenly turned off at the venue. What was frightening about the situation was that Duffy was just about to deliver the ball during, which could have caused some serious damage to the batter since he would have been playing blindfolded due to an uncontrollable accident. Fans were quick to notice the rare incident, and uploaded a clip of the same on social media as well.

The third ODI between the two sides was once again a moment where the Pakistan suffered a disappointing defeat while trying to chase down another competitive total set by the BlackCaps. Though there were some batters who tried to get the team back in the game which includes the likes of Tayyab Tahir who got a start of 33 off 31 deliveries, failed to get the team over the line.
Kiwis clean sweep the visitors
The hosts were already 2-0 up in the series and entered the third contest with an intention to clean sweep the opposition, which they rightfully did. The Kiwis went on to win this game by 43 runs in the game, which was shortened to 42 overs due to rain. The hosts’ skipper Michael Bracewell was adjudged Player of the Match as his crucial half century propelled the team to 264-8 in the first innings of the rain-curtailed encounter. The Men in Green were bundled out for just 221 at the end, losing the game, and the series eventually.
