Bad blood has been forged in “City of Fountains.”
An underrated Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight bout is set for this Sat., April 26, 2025, as knockout artist Randy Brown faces Denmark’s Nicolas Dalby on the main card of UFC Kansas City inside the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Surprisingly, the matchup gained unexpected traction after both fighters exchanged verbal jabs during UFC Kansas media day yesterday.
“He’s definitely a talented guy,” Dalby told reporters. “He’s very unorthodox in the way that he has a big frame. His size and length, he’s kind of the Jon Jones of Welterweight. He’s got some obvious strengths, but he has some obvious weaknesses.
“We found a bunch of guys in Copenhagen to emulate his style, but we couldn’t emulate his eye pokes—that is the Jon Jones part that I’m talking about. Maybe I should have trained in safety goggles or something,” Dalby laughed.
Brown was unamused when informed of Dalby’s remarks.
“That’s just him trying to plant seeds prior to the fight,” Brown said. “He’s 40 years old, going to be 41 this year. I’m disappointed that someone at this level in the game would think that I’m intentionally trying to do that. It speaks volumes about your knowledge and skills.
“If you think like that, you’re a bot,” Brown concluded. “You sound like a fan. Bro, it’s the fight game, it happens. I’m not trying to poke anyone in the eye.”
While “Rudeboy” isn’t a serial eye-poker, he has inadvertently poked the eyes of two of his last three opponents, including a notable ‘split-finger double eye poke’ against Muslim Salikhov, whom he later knocked out (watch highlights).
But hey, since referees refuse to take points for eye pokes and allow fighters to cheat, all is fair in love and war.
