Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has come out and spoken after The Blues 0-0 draw against Brentford on Sunday afternoon.

Sanchez says that Chelsea ‘did a job’ against Brentford and he and his team mates ‘did all they had to do.’

‘It was a difficult game,’ the Blues goalkeeper said. ‘We knew what Brentford were bringing, but we were on it. We created chances, we created shots, we just needed to put the ball in the net.

‘The boys did all we had to do. Brentford got tired from pressing, so they dropped a little bit. We were able to play a bit more, force them back. The team did well

‘If we don’t win, then we don’t lose, that’s important. We take the draw, take the point, and we go on to the next game.’

Sanchez mixed up his range of passing because of Brentford’s tight marking. He explained the process behind that strategy and discussed his form after keeping three clean sheets in his last four matches.

‘There were a couple of good saves. A game like this is difficult. I tried to keep it simple and consistent. It was a good performance.

‘We always try to play out. I try to hold the ball to find the spaces. But it’s difficult when they play man-to-man, you have to look for the second line or behind. It worked a couple of times, and you have to be available to do anything.’

Sanchez added:

‘The confidence of the team is high. After the international break, we got the win against Spurs and did a job at Brentford.

‘We know what we’re doing, and we just need to go every game and get as many points as possible.’

Oh how I long for the days of players telling us that a boring 0-0 draw away at Brentford is simply not good enough for Chelsea. Sigh. Where has that mentality gone? It’s disappeared across the board at our club. Double sigh.
