One hundred and forty-eight days after the World Series came crashing down on them in brutal fashion at E. 161st St. and River Ave., the Yankees will begin anew on Thursday.
With some new faces in tow, one big one gone, too many already hurt, a fair share of them hairy-faced and a handful of young ones being asked to shoulder a bigger responsibility, a fresh season awaits the Yankees as they try to rewrite the script with a better ending.
“Excited about the group,” Aaron Judge said on Tuesday in Miami before the Yankees flew home to face the Brewers on Thursday afternoon.
“Like I’ve been saying all camp, the injuries are tough, especially the big guys that got hit. But it’s a good opportunity for a lot of the young guys to step up and show us what they got and make a name for themselves. I’m excited to see the new guys but also the guys who have been here two or three years now and kind of time for them to establish themselves.”
