TGL action returned on Monday with a doubleheader that began with Los Angeles Golf Club facing the Bay Golf Club.

Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala started for L.A., while Tony Finau and Justin Rose sat out. Bay Golf Club had Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry and Wyndham Clark start with Ludvig Åberg not participating.

A win for BGC — who started out strong with a lead after three holes — would have given them the top playoff seed. But Los Angeles dug back from a 3-0 lead to win and earn the No. 1 seed.

In the second matchup, Boston Common Golf and New York Golf Club face off. Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott will participate for Boston with Hideki Matsuyama out. New York has Cameron Young, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele start, while Matt Fitzpatrick will miss the contest.

Here’s a look at the best moments from Monday’s doubleheader.

Los Angeles Golf Club vs. Bay Golf Club

Lee’s putting is on full display

With the lead on the line, Lee faced a 13-foot, 3-inch birdie putt and made it look easy. His ball swirled in to give BGC a 1-0 lead through three holes. Bonus points to Lowry for a fun celebration with the hole’s flag.

On Hole 4, Lee connected on a putt again — this time from eight feet for a 2-0 lead.

Clark nearly connects on hole-in-one

BGC’s strong start continued on Hole 6 with an impressive drive from Clark. The 2023 U.S. Open champion came inches away from a hole-in-one. His ball’s second bounce almost dropped in the hole, landing 10-feet away after rolling. BGC followed up with a hammer throw and LA declined, giving a 3-0 lead to BGC.

Morikawa with the nice save

Deep in the bunker, Morikawa hit a nice save shot to move 3 feet away from the hole.

LAGC comes back after Theegala’s birdie chip

After falling into a 3-0 hole, LAGC gained momentum to take a 4-3 lead on Hole 12. All they needed was an impressive 20-foot, 2-inch chip shot from Theegala for birdie.

Lee almost holes it off the tee

Lee came close to giving BGC much needed momentum with his tee on Hole 13. His shot bounced on the green, then rolled down toward the hole nearly falling in for an epic hole-in-one.

In the end, Lee’s shot landed just four inches away.

Fleetwood keeps LAGC ahead

With just three holes to play, BGC started putting some pressure on LAGC, but Fleetwood had other ideas.

Standing 21-feet and 2-inches away from a birdie, he chipped in a huge shot to keep LAGC ahead. It prompted a passionate celebration from Fleetwood and Theegala.

LAGC completes the comeback

It didn’t come easy, but LAGC rallied to defeat BGC 5-3 after behind 3-0 early. The victory gave LA the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

A miss from Clark clinched the momentous win from LA.
