The first day of the US Open is over, and it seems that this tournament really fulfilled the expectations of the fans. Before the start of this tournament, there was great excitement among sports fans, who were aware that this tournament carries a lot of unknowns.

The challenge of Oakmont is the reason why so much attention and excitement came from, but the golfers were not so excited, as this golf course can be merciless.

Well-known names of the golf scene have gone so far as to criticize golf club officials and organizers, believing that they are not doing their job.

Phil Mickelson, the experienced face of LIV Golf, stressed in an interview with the media that the USGA is not doing its job.

"They're not doing their job. They're not cutting anything," Mickelson said, as quoted by The News & Observer.

Bryson DeChambeau reacts

Alongside him, Bryson DeChambeau; last year's winner;  faced major problems, and after Wednesday’s practice round, the 31-year-old couldn’t hide his frustration. DeChambeau sent a clear message to one of the volunteers.

"Call the USGA and have someone out here telling us when it's okay to go," he told the volunteer.

Bryson: That is cooked beyond belief

Immediately after these statements, various rumors appeared via social media, as well as criticism directed at the golfers.

DeChambeau did not shine during the practice  round, and his statements said enough about how much the 31-year-old possesses a dose of fear regarding the future and this course.

"That is cooked beyond belief," DeChambeau said. "That's more than half-baked there. That's burnt to a crisp."

Phil Mickelson didn't shine on the first day, finishing his day with a 4-over 74, which placed him tied for 62nd. His counterpart, Bryson DeChambeau, also wasn't great at this tournament, shooting a 3-over 73, tying for 49th.

The question is whether this duo can pull themselves out of a tough spot in the next days.
