On Sept. 30, 2022 (US time), ONE Fight Night 2 took place from Singapore Indoor Stadium. ONE Fight Nights began in 2022 on Amazon Prime Video inside the United States and Canada when the combat sports promotion and streaming platform agreed on a multi-year pact to bring ONE cards in a monthly window on Friday nights to North American audiences.
As was the case with the earliest ONE on Prime Video cards, ONE Fight Night 2 began with an undercard. The night kicked off with a heavyweight kickboxing match between Rade Opacic and Giannis Stoforidis.
The contest progressed to the second round of a scheduled three, during which time the former landed a series of punches on the latter, knocking him down and forcing the referee to call a halt to the proceedings. As of 2025, Opacic is currently a member of the GLORY Kickboxing active roster, joining the promotion with the April 5 card in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Marat Grigorian Outpaces Tayfun Ozcan in Featured Lead Card Bout of ONE Fight Night 2
Following victories by Anissa Meksen (unanimous decision) over Dangkongfah Banchamek in a catchweight Muay Thai affair and Oh Ho-Taek (split decision) versus Ryogo Takahashi during a featherweight MMA contest, the featured bout on the lead card at this Prime Video event saw action taking place at featherweight in another kickboxing bout. On this night, Marat Grigorian made the walk to the cage for a three-round fight against Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 2.
During this featured lead card fight, Grigorian put his foot on the gas pedal late in the opening round, landing lead leg kicks down the stretch. While Ozcan had his moments that night, particularly when he landed uppercuts, Grigorian varied his striking in round two of the fight.
Even when Tayfun Ozcan connected on a flying knee, Marat Grigorian stuck to what he knew best, landing combinations. His counterstriking ultimately told the tale in this contest, as Grigorian was the man who got his hand raised in victory on the last night of September three years ago.
“Darth Rigatoni” Captures Flyweight Submission Grappling Title in ONE Fight Night 2 Co-Main Event
During the co-headlining affair of the evening’s action at ONE Fight Night 2, the ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling Championship was up for grabs for the first time ever. Mikey Musumeci, also known by his nickname of “Darth Rigatoni”, squared off against Cleber Souza for the title.
Under ONE submission grappling match rules, the first contestant to lock in a submission during a 10-minute round is the winner, but if no submissions are recorded in that time, the competitor who makes the most threatening attempts at a submission will be the one declared the victor. While Souza fought valiantly to try and defend Musumeci’s attacks, the latter was just too tough
After the allotted time elapsed, Musumeci scored the victory by way of unanimous decision on the judges scorecards. Less than two years after the card, Musumeci departed ONE Championship to compete in the UFC Fight Pass Invitational, a series of grappling tournaments held by the UFC’s subscription-based streaming platform.
Xiong Jing Nan Bests Angela Lee in Main Event
The main event of the evening at ONE Fight Night 2 saw the ONE Women’s Strawweight MMA World Championship. Inaugural titleholder Xiong Jing Nan defended the belt against challenger Angela Lee. This was a trilogy bout between the two fighters, with the former taking the first two matches in the all-time series.
Chapter three of the book played out much like the first installment of the story. Over the course of the 25 minutes of action, Xiong held serve, scoring with brutal hammerfists to Lee, along with some ground and pound in round one.
While Lee tried to reverse the script in round two, Xiong’s defense was stout. Lee’s attempt at a single-leg takedown during the back-end of the period was expertly thwarted by Xiong, who got the fight back to the clinch.
Although Angela Lee made a bid at a comeback during the later rounds of the ONE Fight Night 2 main event, Xiong’s gutty effort in the bout resulted in her seventh defense of the championship at 125 lbs. Xiong took the all-time series versus Lee by a 2-1 margin.
A year after the fight versus Xiong, Angela Lee retired from MMA.
