From hot seat to Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has done a remarkable job in his four years in Philly, and the team is rewarding him with a new contract.
Sirianni’s job is a lot more comfortable after he was able to lead the team to a 10-1 record after the bye week, and then on to win the Super Bowl. Throughout his time in Philly, he’s gone 48-20 in the regular season for a .706 win percentage, which is the highest in the NFL among current head coaches — but, he’s also at the top of the list of all-time win percentages, too.
Via Pro Football Reference:
The turnaround this year was important, because as impressive as his win percentage is, the collapse at the end of the 2023 season was still very concerning and the start of 2024 wasn’t all that reassuring. What Sirianni was able to do during the bye week, and how he was able to motivate his players through some adversity at various times this season, should absolutely be celebrated.
The head coach continues to find the balance between being emotional, and true to himself, but to also reserve some things in certain situations. It was obvious how much the players love him as they wrapped up the Super Bowl celebrations, with Sirianni giving out lots of hugs on the sideline.
Just like any family member, Sirianni might be a little crazy sometimes, but he’s our crazy. And he’ll be our crazy for at least the next several years.
Team statement from Jeffrey Lurie:
“As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success. Nothing is more important to fostering such an environment than having tremendous leadership. Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles.”
