A Great Britain & NI team of 13 athletes are set to compete in Nanjing, China, from March 21-23

George Mills and Molly Caudery are part of a small but strong British team that will compete at this year’s World Indoor Championships (March 21-23).

The pair will likely be medal contenders in Nanjing, with Mills securing silver over 3000m at the European Indoors and Caudery being the reigning world indoor pole vault champion.

Mills placed second behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen in Apeldoorn but will also go up against some of East Africa’s best athletes in China.

Caudery decided to miss the European Indoors as she was nursing a small calf injury, but the Brit will be hoping to retain her title in a few weeks.

A number of medallists from the European Indoors are also in the team, including Jeremiah Azu, Andy Robertson and Revée Walcott-Nolan.

Azu and Robertson claimed respective gold and bronze medals in the 60m, clocking 6.49 and 6.55 in Apeldoorn.

It’s was the first time that Britain had two European indoor men’s 60m medallists since Jason Gardener (gold) and Craig Pickering (silver) in 2007.

Walcott-Nolan secured the first senior major championships medal of her career with bronze in the 1500m, narrowly edging out Georgia Hunter Bell for the last spot on the podium.

Hunter Bell, who placed fourth but led a large part of the European indoor 1500m final, is also part of the GB squad for Nanjing.

Amy Hunt travels to China off the back of a sixth place finish in the 60m final, plus a personal best of 7.09 that she clocked in the semi-finals.

Amber Anning, who was part of the women’s 4x400m team that claimed silver in the Netherlands, will look to medal in the individual 400m at the World Indoors, off the back of being disqualified in Apeldoorn.

Innes FitzGerald made her senior debut for Great Britain at the European Indoors and her place in Nanjing is still subject to achieving a position on the rankings.

Adam Fogg and Neil Gourley, who competed in the 1500m in Apeldoorn, are also scheduled to fly to China. Scott Lincoln was just two centimetres off shot put bronze at the European Indoors and completes the world indoor team.
