The UFC Vegas 107 main event was cancelled just moments before the fighters were scheduled to walk to the octagon after Maycee Barber suffered a last minute emergency and wasn’t medically cleared to compete.
The news was announced just before Barber was supposed to make her walk to the cage.
It’s a truly unfortunate turn of events for Barber, who hasn’t fought since March 2024 due to medical issues that have kept her out of action for over a year. Now this latest emergency has prevented Barber from fighting again with no indication on when she might be able to compete.
Following news of the cancellation, Blanchfield reacted to the news and revealed what the UFC told her just before the fight was scrapped.
“Hunter [Campbell] came in, he was saying that she was having a seizure and she’s having medical issues and she’s not going to be able to fight,” Blanchfield said. “I knew once I saw him, it wasn’t something good because he was being real serious. I feel like I’m in a little disbelief.”
Prior to the fight, Blanchfield expressed concerns over Barber’s path health issues and her ability to make it to fight night.
Following the cancellation on Saturday, Blanchfield says she won’t entertain rebooking the fight with Barber again in the future.
“No, my coaches right away were like ‘don’t entertain her, she’s not on your level,’” Blanchfield said. “Super unprofessional.”
