There is belief within the Dallas Mavericks organization that the New York Knicks will not ask for permission to interview Jason Kidd, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
The news comes on the heels of rumors that Kidd and the Knicks have “mutual intrigue” over the Knicks’ vacant head coach role.Â
It is reported that Kidd didn’t always enjoy being the unofficial spokesperson for the Mavs following the Luka Doncic trade.Â
The Knicks are interested in Kidd as he is a successful player-turned-coach and due to his understanding of the New York media market.
The Mavs are also expected to deny the Knicks’ interview request for Kidd should they reach out.Â
