Luka Doncic got the full Lakers experience after his first game against longtime rivals the Celtics on their home court.
Things didn’t go LA’s way though, after they went down 111-101 to end their eight-game winning streak and Doncic and LeBron both picked up injuries.
After the game, Doncic reflected on being back in Boston for the first time facing the defending champs.
“Yeah, they have an amazing team, amazing players, especially here it’s very tough to play and very tough to beat them,” Doncic said. “But yeah, it obviously comes to mind. My first Finals, you don’t want to lose it. But that’s what happens, it obviously comes to mind sometimes.”
Luka said it was fun, despite the loss, getting to experience the rivalry first hand.
“It was a great atmosphere. Love playing in those atmospheres, it gets you going, gets you hyped. But we know Boston is very loud all the time. Like I said, it’s always tough to play here. But it’s fun for me, it’s very fun.”
Despite sharing a few words with Doncic on the court, Jaylen Brown had nothing but good things to say about the Slovenian superstar.
“Luka is one of the greats,” Brown said. “He’s one of those generational talents. Offensively, his talent is next to none. He’s one of my favorite players on that side of the ball.”
In his last two games against the C’s and the Pels, Doncic has take some hard falls. He was even kicked in the face during an Al Horford dunk.
It was clear he was in some discomfort and wasn’t able to perform to his regular standard.
But he assured the media that everything is okay.
“I’ve been feeling it since that fall, so just dealing with it,” Luka said. “But I’m fine… I’m good.”
