Over the past year and a half, several former players and analysts have wondered about Novak Djokovic's real chances of winning another Grand Slam title and reaching 25. The former world number 1 – who has not triumphed in a Major since the 2023 US Open – has had a lot of difficulty in keeping his level high with the necessary consistency and this is certainly a consequence of his age.
The Serbian legend is close to turning 38 and knows very well that he will not have many more chances to win a Slam, considering that Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have taken control of the men's tour and many other young stars are emerging quickly.
The 37-year-old from Belgrade has never hidden that the four Major tournaments represent his only goals at this stage of his career and it is no coincidence that Nole has played his best tennis in the last period at the Australian Open, where he reached the semifinals after eliminating Alcaraz. Unfortunately, an injury did not allow him to play his chances to the full at Melbourne Park.
Del Potro opens up on Djokovic
Novak will try to win his fourth Roland Garros in just over a month, despite the fact that the surface is very demanding from a physical point of view and will require him to make a significant effort.
During a long interview with 'Olympics', former Argentine champion Juan Martin del Potro – who has always had a special bond with Djokovic – discussed the Serbian's chances of triumphing again in a Major: "I think winning another Grand Slam title is his top priority right now and I don't rule out that he can achieve this goal. He has a lot of experience and – if the shape supports him – he will be able to lift his 25th Major in the near future. It would be great if he repeated a feat similar to what he did at the Paris Olympics."
According to most insiders, Nole's biggest chances will be at Wimbledon this summer.
