Jake Paul is returning to the boxing ring this summer.
Promotional officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Paul is set to face former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a cruiserweight matchup. The event takes place June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif, and streams on DAZN pay-per-view.
Ring Magazine was first to report the matchup.
Paul makes his first appearance in 2025 coming off of his decision win over Mike Tyson in November. Since suffering his first pro loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023, Paul has rattled off five straight victories, including a decision win against Nate Diaz in August 2023, and a sixth-round knockout win over current BKFC superstar Mike Perry this past July.
Prior to this bout, a bout between Paul and Canelo Alvarez was in the works for May, but the fight didn’t materialize after Alvarez signed a deal with Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season promotion.
Chavez has won two straight bouts, including a decision win over ex-UFC middleweight Uriah Hall this past July on the Paul vs. Perry event. Chavez also faced former UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva in June 2021, where he dropped a decision to Silva in Mexico.
In the co-main event, Gilberto Ramirez faces Yuniel Dorticos in a cruiserweight championship contest.
