IU basketball has added 10 players this spring from the transfer portal. Player by player, we’ll take a look at each addition in our “transfer portal spotlight” series.

Today: Conor Enright

Previously: Tucker DeVries

Bio: 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior guard from Mundelein, Illinois

Previous schools: Drake (2021-2024, played two seasons and redshirted as a freshman) and DePaul (2024-25 season)

Career stats: 6.0 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 24.2 minutes per game. Enright is a career 42.9 percent shooter from the field, a 37.1 percent 3-point shooter and a 66.9 percent free-throw shooter.

Career accolades: Two-time MVC conference tournament champion, 2024 MVC scholar-athlete second team, 2023 MVC all-freshman team, 2023 MVC scholar-athlete honorable mention, 2023 MVC Elite 17 honoree

Recruitment background

A class of 2021 recruit, Enright signed with Drake out of high school and spent three seasons at DePaul. He played two seasons for the Bulldogs after redshirting his freshman season. After DeVries left Drake following the 2023-24 season, Enright transferred to DePaul.

After spending one season playing for the Blue Devils, Enright entered the transfer portal and committed to the Hoosiers in early April.

“I’ve got one year left and I want an opportunity to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and I think with how much I trust coach DeVries, I know he’s a winner and combined with Indiana being a winning program, that’s the perfect combination,” Enright said of his decision to transfer to Bloomington. “Just winning is the biggest thing I was looking for.”

Notes on his game

Known for his leadership and toughness, Enright will be immediately welcomed by the IU basketball fan base. He plays with energy and is the type of player that opponents loathe playing against.

While not known for his shooting or scoring ability, his 37.1 percent career mark from 3-point range is noteworthy. He was just 32.5 percent on 3s last season at DePaul, but was also battling a shoulder injury that likely impacted his shot.

“I should be 100 percent middle or end of July,” Enright said in early April. “I’ll be doing non-contact workouts and being able to shoot pretty much all summer and getting in shape. I’ll be ready to go for the season. That definitely affected me a little bit. My shooting dropped significantly when I had that injury. I was wearing a brace and wasn’t playing the best. So I think being able to have this last year fully healthy will be big for me.”

Defensively, Enright is a pest who makes hustle plays and consistently makes opponents uncomfortable with the ball.

The part of his game that stands out the most is his ability to distribute the ball. He averaged 6.2 assists last season at DePaul and had the 16th-best assist rate in the country at 37.8 percent. In conference games, his assist rate of 32.2 percent was fourth best in the Big East.

Scouting report

“Given DeVries’ history with Enright and his need to fill the roster with experienced, productive players, this recruitment makes a lot of sense for the Hoosiers. Enright is known for his unselfishness, playmaking ability and hustle. He is extremely familiar with DeVries’ system from his three seasons at Drake.” – Inside the Hall in late March

“He just brings a competitiveness, an everyday approach and energy that you’d expect from an older guy and an older guy that’s won. He brings leadership ability. He’s a really unselfish kid. You can tell [by] how he plays and just how he operates.” – DePaul coach Chris Holtmann on Enright last fall
