The beginning of Jannik Sinner’s doping case dates back to exactly a month ago, given that the Italian ace was found positive for Clostebol during the Indian Wells Masters 1000.

From that moment on, a long ordeal began for the 23-year-old from Sesto Pusteria, who had to face a long trial in the following months without being able to talk to anyone about this delicate situation. Despite the enormous stress caused by this story, the world number 1 has continued to compete at the highest level and his numbers in this period of time have been truly incredible.

Fans and insiders only learned about this story when Jannik’s total acquittal was announced shortly before the start of the 2024 US Open.

Everyone thought that Sinner could finally forget that bad case and return to focus only on tennis, instead WADA has decided to appeal against the acquittal sentence by opening a new trial before the CAS in Lausanne and asking for 1-2 years of suspension for ‘strict liability’.

As everyone knows by now, the 3-time Grand Slam champion reached an agreement with WADA about a month ago and will have to sit out until May 4 (his ban began on February 9).

Sinner will be back in action in Rome

In recent months, several players have claimed that the Italian star would benefit from privileged treatment linked to his status as world No.1.

In a recent interview with ‘AFP’, ITIA Director Karen Moorhousen reiterated once again that the procedure complied with all the rules: “All the pasts were followed in both Sinner’s and Swiatek’s cases.

Both players appealed the provisional suspension within the ten-day period, and neither broke the rules.

It is right that the provisional sanctions are not made public.

In Jannik’s case, there was no legal basis for prosecuting his team members.

There was no violation of the anti-doping system.”

The Italian ace has not played since the 2025 Australian Open and will return to action at the Rome Masters 1000 in May.
