Total chaos at Ferrari in these days leading up to the Canadian Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc is tired of the car’s performance and is looking elsewhereThey have hit rock bottom, definitively. This season could represent the lowest point ever reached by one of the most successful and iconic teams in the sport. The situation inside Ferrari is far from calm, and Charles Leclerc is starting to seek alternatives, setting off alarm bells among Italian fans. Here’s what’s happening in Maranello these days.
Once again, as has been the case for nearly 20 years now, the expectations of millions of fans—and especially the drivers—have been disappointed. This 2025 season, judging by how the previous one ended, was supposed to be the year they fought for both world championships. Instead, it is turning out to be yet another misstep for the Scuderia.
It was in 2019 that Charles Leclerc, wearing red for the first time, entered the hearts of millions of Ferrari fans. He was the driver everyone had been waiting for. Kind off the track and a lion on it, once the visor comes down. Through all these years, with highs and lows, he has never stopped emphasizing one thing: that racing for this team is the realization of a dream he’s had since childhood.
But a dream can also become a nightmare. Charles Leclerc is coming off two consecutive podiums, in Monaco and Barcelona, but that’s not what he wants. His goal, as he’s stated for years, is something else… and very clear. At this point, however, with a long list of disappointments behind him, the Monegasque is starting to lose confidence in the team to which he gave so much even in the toughest moments, and has let alarming doubts slip about his future with them.
The contract that binds him to Ferrari is valid until 2029, by which time he will already be 31. But Leclerc cannot wait, he cannot and does not want to continue like this: in just one year, for example, Oscar Piastri has won almost more than he has in seven seasons with Ferrari. Making things even worse, as reported by Corriere della Sera, is the fact that Leclerc seems to have little faith in the 2026 project, and is therefore looking elsewhere, leaving behind the red he once loved so much.Mercedes could open its doors. Let’s not forget that George Russell has yet to renew his contract with the Brackley team. One cannot rule out the “green car” either, under the guidance of Adrian Newey, although for now it appears to be focused on others.
