The 2025 United Football League (UFL) Championship Game is all set for this Saturday in St. Louis, and a former Seattle Seahawks receiver is on the cusp of a title.
Malik Turner has been one of the top wideouts all year in the spring football league, and he helped the Michigan Panthers get to the UFL title game with a terrific 76-yard touchdown against the Birmingham Stallions. Nothing like a little catch-and-run with a spin, some great blocking, and the “deuces” sign put up on the way to the end zone.
Michigan went up 34-17 late in the third quarter and despite a late charge from the Stallions, it wasn’t enough. The Panthers’ 44-29 victory ended Birmingham’s hopes of yet another spring football championship appearance.
Turner finished with six catches for 99 yards and the touchdown on the day. At the end of the regular season, Turner ranked fifth among all UFL targets in catches (40), ninth in receiving yards (365), and tied for third in touchdowns (4). It’s been a great season for Turner, who was with the Seahawks from 2018 through 2019 and otherwise hasn’t caught an NFL pass since 2021. Turner’s career NFL highlight was this trick play touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles back in 2019.
The Panthers will play the DC Defenders, who have former practice squad and/or training camp bodies Cornell Powell and Ty Scott.
Good luck to Malik in the title game!
