Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni: All Results on June 7

Pierce O’Leary vs Liam Dillon

In the co-main event, Pierce “Big Bang” O’Leary (17-0, 9 KOs) took on Liam Dillon (15-3-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant EBU European super lightweight title and O’Leary’s WBC International super lightweight belt.

O’Leary started well, picking his shots, while Dillon had his moments with single shots. The Dublin fighter enjoyed a strong third round, hurting Dillon on more than one occasion. The pressure from the Irishman continued over the next few rounds as he landed eye-catching shots, while Dillon had limited success with his right hand.

As the rounds progressed, the variation from O’Leary was the difference. Dillon continued to be brave and punch back, but the more accurate work came from “Big Bang,” who stayed on top until the final bell. The judges’ scorecards read 116-112, 115-113 and 117-112, all in favour of O’Leary, who becomes the new EBU European super lightweight champion, while retaining his WBC International title.

Lewis Richardson vs Dmitri Protkunas

Next in the ring was the 2024 Olympic bronze medallist Lewis Richardson (1-0, 0 KOs), making his debut in the middleweight division against Dmitri Protkunas (8-21-1, 1 KO). Richardson impressed early, displaying quick hands and a varied offensive arsenal.

He worked smartly off his jab, mixing up his attacks and controlling the range to nullify his opponent. The debutant remained composed throughout, moving well, cruising to a dominant 60-54 victory on the referee’s scorecard.

Mike Perez vs Steven Ward

In one of the most intriguing fights on the card, Mike Perez (31-3-1, 22 KOs) faced Steven Ward (15-4, 5 KOs) in the cruiserweight division. After a cagey opening few rounds, Perez began to increase the tempo, though Ward impressed with sharp bodywork. Both fighters had their moments in round six – Perez landed some big shots to the body before Ward fired back off the ropes.

Perez increased the pressure in the eighth round, knocking Ward down twice with powerful, well-placed shots. A straight body shot in the ninth caused another knockdown, prompting Ward’s corner to throw in the towel and end the fight, awarding the Cuban a TKO victory and the vacant WBA Intercontinental cruiserweight title.

Jack Williams vs Fernando Joaquin Valdez – Float Bout

In the float bout, hometown fighter Jack Williams (3-0, 1 KO) faced Fernando Joaquin Valdez (1-16, 0 KOs) in the super bantamweight division. Williams controlled the tempo with his slick movement and punch selection. He showed plenty of patience in his work and proved too accurate for the durable Valdez, earning a 40-36 on the referee’s scorecard.

Nelson Hysa vs Patrick Korte

The first fight on the live DAZN broadcast was Nelson Hysa (23-0, 21 KOs) vs Patrick Korte (22-5-1, 18 KOs) for the WBO European heavyweight title. Hysa started fast, showcasing his impressive jab and powerful right hand, which helped him score a knockdown in the first round. The referee waved the fight off in the second round following another big right hand that dropped Korte again. An impressive win for Hysa ensured he retained his WBO European heavyweight title, with the Albanian calling Moses Itauma out after the fight.

Billy Adams vs Alexander Morales

The final fight on the YouTube prelims was Billy Adams (7-0, 0 KOs) vs Alexander Morales (6-15-5, 2 KOs) in the super featherweight division. Adams was in control from the first bell, varying his attacks impressively. Adams was light on his feet and controlled the distance well, deserving his 40-36 victory.

Sam Gilley vs Gideon Onyenani

Sam Gilley (19-1-1, 9 KOs) faced Gideon Onyenani (7-6-1, 0 KOs) in the super welterweight division. Gilley was the sharper of the two, but allowed himself to be dragged into Onyenani’s fight. The referee ultimately scored the bout 76-76, much to the disappointment of Gilley. Onyenani forced the tempo and deserved his share of the spoils, almost causing the upset.

Umar Khan vs Moises Garcia

Next up was the featherweight division, with Umar Khan (12-0, 1 KO) facing Moises Garcia (12-14-1, 6 KOs). Khan started well and put his shots together impressively. Garcia had his moments with single shots when Khan stayed too static, but when Khan moved and boxed, he was in complete control. The referee’s scorecard read 79-72 in favour of the undefeated 23-year-old Brit.

Lillie Winch vs Katerina Dvorakova

In the opening fight of the Fabio Wardley vs Justis Huni undercard, unbeaten lightweight prospect Lillie Winch (5-0, 0 KOs) faced Katerina Dvorakova (3-7, 3 KOs). Dvorakova started on the front foot, but the poise and accuracy from Winch saw her gradually take over the fight and earn a 60-54 on the referee’s scorecard.
