Eva Lys once practiced with Iga Swiatek and that's one session she will never forget as she found the five-time Grand Slam champion's warm-up intensity as "craziest."
It is a well-known thing that Swiatek is extremely strict about her work regime and tennis routines. When on the court, she is usually fully locked in from start to finish and has often credited that trait as one of the reasons behind her staggering number of bagels.
At the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, Lys had a chance to hit some balls with the former Polish tennis star. And it didn't take the German long enough to realize that the Pole's practice intensity is basically the same as her match intensity.
Lys: Swiatek has the craziest intensity
"I warmed up with Iga once in Dubai. Afterwards I'm like, 'I don't need to play a match, I'm done,'" Lys said while talking with Daria Kasatkina on the Australian's What The Vlog.
Kasatkina agreed with the German, saying: "Yeah, she's pretty intense. Honestly, I just feel like everybody is different. She's so explosive, she's so intense. Not everyone can be at that level but we can still all compete."
Lys continued: "I feel like it's the difference. This is what individual sport is about, everyone's different but yes, Iga has the craziest intensity."
If you remember well, Swiatek was the one who put an end to Lys' Australian Open fairytale. At this year's Australian Open, the 23-year-old became one of the best stories after making the main draw as a lucky loser at the last moment and then going on to make her first Grand Slam round-of-16 and also secure breaking into the top-100 for the first time in her career.
But Lys couldn't go further than the last-16 stage as Swiatek absolutely dominated their clash and claimed a 6-0 6-1 win.
