The Philadelphia Eagles officially have a roadmap to their Super Bowl title defense. With the  NFL schedule being released, Philadelphia knows what 2025 opponents await them on a schedule that looks daunting on paper.
After thrashing the Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles will be battle-tested in their title defense season. The Eagles will be the first team in NFL history to be matched against 10 or more different playoff teams from the previous season. They have 11 games with teams from last year’s postseason (Washington twice).
It isn’t abnormal for division winners to have a challenging schedule the following year, but 11 matchups against 10+ win teams present an interesting (and historic) challenge for the defending champions.Â
As members of the NFC East, the schedule rotation pits Philadelphia against the NFC North — a division that had three teams win 11+ games last season (and two 14+ win teams). For the intraconference slate, the Eagles will face the AFC West, a division that had three playoff teams last season.
Following their season opener against the rival Dallas Cowboys, the Eagles will face four consecutive teams from the 2024 playoff field, including a Week 2 Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs.Â
Their opponents during that span (Chiefs, Rams, Buccaneers and Broncos) had a combined record of 45-23 last season.Â
Despite drawing the fourth-toughest schedule, the defending champs seem unfazed and longtime Eagle Lane Johnson even predicted (in jest) an undefeated season for Philadelphia.
Even with a star-studded roster of their own, this year’s schedule isn’t a cakewalk for Philadelphia.Â
The defending champions will be tasked with five playoff teams from last year’s field and two divisional opponents before a midseason bye week. Philly’s second-half slate presents a challenge, too, with matchups against the Packers, Lions, Chargers, Commanders and Bills looming.
Only three of their second-half opponents won fewer than 10 games last season.Â
Despite the loaded schedule, Vegas still foresees a fruitful season in Philadelphia. The Eagles’ 2025 win total is set at 11.5 wins at BetMGM. That projection is tied with the Chiefs, Bills and Ravens for the league’s highest win total.
Philadelphia has won 11+ games in three straight seasons and notched a franchise record 14 wins in 2022 and 2024.Â
Navigating their schedule filled with playoff threats eager to dethrone them won’t be easy, but the Eagles are equipped to weather the storm.
With Pro Bowlers Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown returning on offense and Vic Fangio preparing for his second season directing Philadelphia’s vaunted defense, Philadelphia is primed to do damage this season.
Last year, Barkley set the record for most rushing yards in a single season, including the playoffs, with 2,504 yards.Â
Should they manage 10+ wins in 2025, they should be primed and battle-tested for their title defense in the playoffs.
