Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Tommy Edman tweaked his ankle a couple days ago, manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday.
Edman has been battling a right ankle injury since the end of April. He missed three weeks on the injured list and returned on May 18. However, he was out of the lineup on Tuesday and again on Wednesday due to the recent tweak.

Why is Esteury Ruiz With Dodgers?
While Roberts didn’t say the Dodgers were placing Edman on the injured list just yet, outfielder Esteury Ruiz, who popped up at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, is on the taxi squad. If Edman goes on the IL, Ruiz would take his spot on the active roster. Roberts said Edman was “day to day” for now.
The Dodgers acquired Ruiz at the end of March in a trade with the Athletics. Just two years removed from a 67-stolen-base season, Ruiz has struggled over the last two years and was designated for assignment before being traded to L.A for right-handed pitcher Carlos Duran.
At Triple-A Oklahoma City, Ruiz has hit .274 with 16 extra-base hits, 20 runs batted in, 27 stolen bases and an OPS of .791. He would provide plus speed and plus outfield defense for L.A. if added to the roster.
