PRIMM, Nev. — Festivities for the 2025 BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 are officially underway, as Saturday’s Republic Services Mint 400 Desert Cleanup presented by Sylvania Off Road is officially in the books.
When all was said and done, hundreds of volunteers united to collect 58,580 pounds (29.29 tons) of trash from the Jean, Nevada OHV area on Saturday, pushing the event’s lifetime total to more than half a million pounds of trash removed from the desert.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to Republic Services, Sylvania Off Road, and of course our hundreds of volunteers for making Saturday’s Mint 400 Desert Cleanup such a success,” said UNLTD Off-Road Racing Series CEO Matt Martelli. “For nearly a decade, this event has not only ushered in Mint 400 week, it’s also made a positive impact for off-road racers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
“To be able to say that we’ve removed more than 250 tons of trash from the desert over the past nine years is incredibly gratifying, and it shows just another way that off-road racing makes a huge difference in the community. We look forward to seeing everybody back for next year’s Desert Cleanup, but in the meantime — don’t trash the desert.”
2025 marked the ninth year of the Mint 400 Desert Cleanup, one of the off-road industry’s biggest cleanup initiatives. More than 540 volunteers pre-registered for the event, including numerous competitors set to take on the course as racers this weekend. Registrants were provided with an event T-shirt and the opportunity to win incredible prizes donated by Mint 400 and UNLTD Off-Road Racing Series sponsors.
The effects of the Mint 400 Desert Cleanup reach far and wide each year. The Jean OHV area is used not only for racing events like the BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400, but also numerous other recreational events in the area. Based on its success, UNLTD has also established additional Desert Cleanup events for its Parker 400 and California 300 events. This year’s Republic Services Parker 400 Desert Cleanup removed 26,500 pounds of trash from the Arizona desert, putting UNLTD’s cumulative total for the year to more than 85,000 pounds, and its lifetime total to 641,360 pounds (320.68 tons) since 2017.
With the annual Desert Cleanup in the books, attention turns to Mint 400 race week.
