Dave Roberts on Dodgers’ Win Streak: ‘I Think Each Night We’re Unbeatable’

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 8-0 after a comeback victory over the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night. The Dodgers’ record is the best by any defending champion in the history of Major League Baseball.

Early in Wednesday night’s matchup, the chances of L.A. extending the win streak seemed doubtful as the Dodgers committed a slew of errors.

Max Muncy made two throwing errors. Andy Pages dropped a ball in center field. And starting pitcher Blake Snell did not look like himself in the early innings against Atlanta.

A combination of sloppy defense and poor pitching allowed the Braves to have comfortable 5-0 lead — or so they thought.

But the 2025 Dodgers are relentless as the team overcame the deficit to secure a 6-5 win. As if the game was scripted, Shohei Ohtani hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning on his bobblehead night.

Manager Dave Roberts commented on the whirlwind game.

“It looked bleak early … but our guys persevered,” Roberts said. “I think each night we’re unbeatable, and we’ll see how that works out.”

There is a sense of confidence from the Dodgers skipper as the defending champions compete each night.

“I guess if you say that if every single night we take the field do I feel like we’re going to win?” Roberts said. “Yeah (we’re unbeatable).”

He added: “I know that the math says that we’re not going to go 162-0, but each night we take the field I feel like we’re going to win, so, whatever that means.”

But like many people, Roberts was surprised the Dodgers found a way to win even with a poor performance early in the game.

“Tonight I was a little dumbfounded,” said Roberts. “I was dumbfounded with the way we were playing. I didn’t recognize that club in the first couple innings. And then just dumbfounded we found a way to win that game. We had no business winning that game. But to our guys’ credit, we just kept fighting.”

While the Dodgers may not be playing their best baseball yet, the team has certainly shown its unwillingness — or maybe even inability — to lose.
