As you will know, I will often take an ‘on the fence’ approach because in general in life I am just very balanced in my thoughts and opinions, and that carries over the football as well.
Emotions can always get the better of me in the moment, but I’ll always try and see both sides and look for balance where I can. So this is why you will often see me sat on the fence about some things, not all things, not at all, but sometimes I can’t call it either way so I’ll perch myself on the fence. Nothing wrong with that at all, of course.
But I’ve noticed in this community, it is not often that overall we take that stance. We often pick a side and back our opinions on it. We often sit on one side or the other of that fence, with very few sitting on it.
But with the striker situation at Chelsea right now, we are very much all sat on the fence and in fact, I think the fence is about to fall down due to the weight on it!
Yesterday, I asked you all whether you would be happy IF, and it’s still a big if because Chelsea are still considering a new striker this summer and have been working on Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt, Chelsea don’t sign another new striker as well as Liam Delap this summer and we go into the new season with him and Nicolas Jackson as our striker options.
The results are as follows:
48% are on the fence
21% would be quite happy
18% would not be too happy
11% not happy at all
2% very happy
So as you can see, we just don’t know, and I guess that is because only time will tell. Delap is still a bit raw, Jackson is Jackson and we know his strengths as well as his big weaknesses. Delap has the potential to bang but it’s also a bit of an unpredictable situation.
I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing at this point? I love Delap, but I can’t say I’d be too confident going into the new season with just him and Jackson as our striker option I have to be honest and clear about that.
But at the same time, I have a lot of belief in Delap and do hope he proves me right and cancels out these fears!
