Caroline Wozniacki thinks Emma Raducanu is "going in the right" direction and she is not ruling out the possibility of the 22-year-old winning another Grand Slam just because the Briton has done it once and that means she knows how to do it.
Nearly four years ago, an 18-year-old Raducanu made tennis history when she won a total of 10 matches at the US Open – all in straight sets – to become the first male or female qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam. To this day, that remains the British tennis player's only professional title.
While the 2021 US Open champion hasn't won any titles this year, she has been much more consistent lately and the overall feeling is that she stabilized in several areas. Ahead of the French Open, Wozniacki was asked to address the world No. 43's chances at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Wozniacki started off by underlining that Raducanu first must remain healthy. The Dane also stated that the Briton's trajectory is a good one and also approved her collaboration with coach Mark Petchey. Also, the former world No. 1 noted that a good draw in Grand Slams is very important and that it is never easy for a British player competing at Wimbledon because of all the pressure.
Wozniacki: If Raducanu did it once, she can do it again
“And what her ceiling is, I think time will tell, but she’s proven that she can win the US Open, and if you can do it once, you can do it again. It’s just a matter of putting it together for seven straight matches. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if that’s gonna happen and when that’s gonna happen. But either way, being as young as she is and already having a Grand Slam under her belt is a great feat," the 2018 Australian Open champion added.
In one of her interviews last year, Raducanu admitted that she wanted to win Wimbledon and confidently said in the same interview that she was "going to do it" one day.
Meanwhile, the British tennis star faces Wang Xinyu in the French Open first round and could meet Iga Swiatek in the second round.
