Caroline Wozniacki doesn't agree with the notion that women's tennis is full of inconsistency and also highlights that it is not realistic to expect current players to have a Serena Williams-like level of consistency.
Over the last couple of seasons, Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka have enjoyed the most Grand Slam success. The likes of Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys, Marketa Vondrousova also became first-time Slam winners, while Barbora Krejcikova won her second Major at Wimbledon last year. A couple of players also made their maiden Slam finals but remain without a Major – Ons Jabeur, Zheng Qinwen, Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini.
Something similar has been the case at the WTA 1000 level, where pretty much every player from the current top-10 has a title.
But as was the case in the past, some think all of this makes the women's game extremely inconsistent. One of the main arguments for that this year has been the Swiatek situation and the Pole's major struggles.
Wozniacki, who is 34 and also has one Grand Slam title in her collection, doesn't think the variety of success in women's tennis is a negative thing. Instead, she thinks it is only showing how much quality there is.

"I think we're seeing consistency and I I think again, maturity, the players are getting older they've been there for a while. They know their pros and cons and have been at the late stages and I think that helps. And, you know, to expect consistency like the big three or Serena – that almost win everything that they show up to, again, it's very difficult. Everyone wants to win, everyone works hard every day at home, and, you know, there'll always be competition," Wozniacki told TennisUpToDate.
After winning her first Grand Slam title at the 1999 US Open, the great Williams won 22 Majors – her last triumph came at the 2017 Australian Open. However, even after the 2017 Australian Open, Williams remained a strong Grand Slam contender but lost four Major finals in the rest of her career.
