Just days after the Bucs added six new draft picks and many more undrafted free agents, the team needed to subtract some players off the roster to make room on the 90-man roster. It was reported by Fox Sports’ Greg Auman on Tuesday afternoon that wide receiver Marquez Callaway was released, while wide receiver Tanner Knue, outside linebacker Daniel Grezsiak, and cornerback Dallis Flowers were waived.

Bucs Make Room For Key 2025 Draft Picks, Potential UDFAS With This Move
The Bucs needed to trim some fat off the roster after welcoming so many new players into the fold. Unfortunately, that left a handful of players on the outside looking in.

Drafting wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson meant parting ways with two players who did not make an impact last season. Marquez Callaway was active for just two games, playing five offensive snaps when the wide receiver room was decimated by injuries in the middle of the regular season. Callaway failed to record any stats, and the six-year veteran now hits the free agent market. Tanner Knue made the practice squad last season but failed to receive any playing time. Knue, the former Eastern Michigan wideout, will now be looking for a new opportunity elsewhere.
Egbuka and Johnson not only pushed these two wide receivers off the roster, but they will now push Sterling Shepard, Rakim Jarrett, Kameron Johnson, Ryan Miller, and Dennis Houston down a peg on the depth chart. Not to mention undrafted rookie Will Sheppard. With the two draft picks joining Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan, it likely leaves just one 53-man roster spot for at least six players to fight for over the offseason.

Daniel Grzesiak, like Knue, made the practice squad as an undrafted free agent. Grzesiak did not make a regular-season appearance, but he deserves recognition for being one of several Tampa Bay linebackers to give back to local moms in need. Drafting David Walker and Elijah Roberts ultimately proved to be his demise.
Two more draft picks marked the end of Dallis Flowers’ time in town. Flowers, signed after being released mid-season by the Colts, was seen as a veteran addition to the cornerback room during a time when defensive backs were dropping like flies in the secondary. Still, after getting some run in Indianapolis on defense, he played just ten special teams snaps across two games.
While not major moves, it signifies the beginning of what will be extensive roster tweaking in the months ahead.
General manager Jason Licht is known for keeping undrafted free agents in the fold, so making room for them or anyone who sticks out during rookie mini-camp May 9th-10th will also mean letting go of even more players.
