He fights with feeling, and he is taking the “Shu Shu” show to Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
Red hot featherweight contender Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (14-0, 8 KOs) is knocking on the door of a title shot in 2025. On March 29, he clocks into work at Fontainebleau Las Vegas for his 1st outing of the year after a busy fall that saw him fight in September and November. He picked up impressive distance wins in both fights on big stages. He stepped through the ropes in Madison Square Garden in September and then at the A T and T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in November.
Carrington will be in one of the chief support bouts to the main event that sees Mikaela Mayer defend her WBO welterweight world title in a rematch against former champion Sandy Ryan.
Carrington will next face rugged Enrique Vivas of Mexico, who comes in at 23-3 (12 KOs). The 3 setbacks on his record have all been against world title challengers and have all gone the distance. So, Mexico’s Vivas won’t be a walk in the park for Carrington. This is a tough, battle-tested Mexican who is looking to upset Carrington’s title-bound train.
Carrington has been on the fast track since turning pro in 2021 and mixes boxing, banging, and a little sizzle in his ring appearances. He knows how to use his legs and box, but if he senses he can get you, he looks for the KO.
With his confident, impressive, fan-friendly style, Carrington has “star” written all over him. A nice win over an experienced gatekeeper like Vivas could be the last step before he is given serious consideration for a world title shot.
A New York native who now calls Las Vegas home, Carrington appeared in some recent training posts looking ripped and ready as he went through some old-school wood chopping drills in the Vegas sun. In them, he happily predicted that “a world title is coming this year”. If his recent ring appearances are any indication, he is correct.
As he told me in a recent conversation, “It’s not really the time, or the number of fights I have had.”
“It’s about how I am feeling.”
I think he’s feeling like a young man on the verge of a world title shot.
Fight fans are feeling they are watching a soon-to-be world champion.
