After Two Straight WrestleMania Losses, What is Left for Roman Reigns in WWE

A disappointing defeat for Roman Reigns at the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 1 on Saturday left fans wondering what’s next for The Tribal Chief. A cinematic triple-threat match saw Seth Rollins claim an emphatic victory over Roman Reigns and CM Punk after Paul Heyman revealed whose side he was on after weeks of anticipation heading into the event.

Despite all three contenders delivering multiple finishers during the match, Heyman’s intervention decided the outcome of the main event after initially betraying CM Punk with a devastating low blow before handing over the steel chair to Roman Reigns.

However, the WWE Universe saw a shocking turn of events on Saturday night as Heyman later delivered another low blow to Reigns, allowing Seth Rollins to take advantage, hit his finisher, and score the pin to claim a historic win at WrestleMania.

What’s Next For Roman Reigns?

Last year, we saw Reigns drop his Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes on Night 2 of WrestleMania 40, and with him losing another main event this year, it remains to be seen what The Head of the Table is going to do with the company in 2025.

Heyman’s betrayal could be addressed, and a potential feud with Rollins or Punk could still take place this year at one of the major Premium Live Events, such as SummerSlam or Survivor Series. Reigns has a contract with WWE that runs until the end of WrestleMania 42, and next year could potentially be his final year in the professional wrestling industry.

“After I finish the contract that I’m in, we probably got another year or two max,” Reigns told Vanity Fair before WrestleMania 41. “Then it’s time to take on a less physical form of entertainment.”

Heyman had also revealed in the past that he and Reigns were offered movie deals, telling Fox News Digital Hours, “Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman have been offered roles, projects, films, TV series, reality shows for the past several years. I can show you my phone right now, and there are people begging to fly up from Hollywood to take in a meeting either before or after WrestleMania about directing films, writing films, this project.”

He added, “And I’m not knocking indie films — I’m a big fan of indie films — but I’m not talking $1-2 million budgets. I’m talking real, substantial studio budgets. And, because of the schedule and because of commitments, neither one of us have jumped on that,” he added.

If The OTC does indeed decide to take on a less physical role in WWE going forward, maybe he’ll end up going to Hollywood like his cousin The Rock and former rival John Cena. Only time will tell what the future holds for Roman Reigns.
