Veteran wing Mario Hezonja could be looking at a return to the NBA. Hezonja has an NBA out in his deal with Real Madrid and has drawn interest from NBA teams.
After being drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2015, Hezonja played for five seasons in the NBA. He spent three years with the Magic, then moved to the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers.
Since leaving the NBA, Hezonja has played for Panathinaikos in Greece, UNICS Kazan in Russia and with Real Madrid in Spain for the last three seasons. The 30-year-old wing averaged 14.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for Real Madrid across 71 games in all competitions this season.
Hezonja also played well for Croatia in EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers. The 6-foot-8 forward/guard averaged 30.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Despite Hezonja’s efforts, Croatia didn’t qualify for EuroBasket for the first time in the event’s history.
