Friday evening saw just how crucial pitching depth can be as eight pitchers were used in the 13-inning win, and 14 other talented arms were watching on from the injured list. As L.A. prepares for Game 2 of their series against the New York Mets, the 26-year-old right-hander will be waiting in the wings.
Miller has had quite the journey to get back to The Show. Most recently, he made his 2025 debut in the middle of April, striking out seven but allowing six runs in three innings. Showing flashes of greatness while also displaying inconsistency on the mound has been the story of Miller’s career in a Dodgers uniform thus far.

His rookie campaign of 2023 featured a 3.76 ERA over 124.1 innings pitched with an 11-4 record over 22 starts. Miller also had a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.72, hurling 119 punch-outs to just 32 walks.
The following season brought many struggles for Miller, including shoulder issues and concerns over his command, but the right-hander ended the season with an 8.52 ERA over 13 big league starts.
As 2025 looked to be the season where Miller returned to familiar form, another setback occurred during the first Cactus League game of spring training. Miller was struck in the head by a 106 mph line drive on just his 12th pitch of the spring.
For someone vying to crack the starting rotation, this put Miller back quite a ways. So far in Triple-A, he has a 4.63 ERA over eight appearances, totalling 35 innings.
With another chance to prove himself in the majors, Miller will try and make the most of this next opportunity and get back to the magic of the 2023 season. Both he and the Dodgers need some of that dominance on the hill right about now.
