Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Most underappreciated NFL players: Top candidate for each NFC team entering 2025 season – NFL.comPHILADELPHIA EAGLES: MORO OJOMO. Admittedly, this is my biggest projection in this exercise, given that the 2023 seventh-round pick has played just 456 defensive snaps in the NFL. But in the wake of Milton Williams’ departure in free agency, Ojomo is set to assume a bigger role, and I think he’ll seize the opportunity. Why? Well, among interior defenders with at least 300 pass-rushing snaps last season, Ojomo boasted PFF’s second-highest win rate (18.2%), trailing only Chris Jones (18.8%). Williams actually finished fourth (17.6%), underscoring what a blessing it is to line up next to double-team destroyer Jalen Carter. But unlike Milton, Moro will continue to reap that benefit in 2025.

Where are the Eagles deep, and not so deep, after the 2025 NFL Draft: Defense edition – PhillyVoiceInterior defensive line. Carter is sort of the Saquon Barkley of the defense, in that he had a hefty workload in 2024. Here were the Eagles’ interior defensive line snap counts last season: Jalen Carter: 1027, Milton Williams: 629, Moro Ojomo: 465, Jordan Davis: 431, Thomas Booker: 170. Expect a significant uptick in Ojomo’s snaps this season, as he’ll take Williams’ former role. We’ll see if Davis can play more than three snaps at a time without having his hands on his hips. The Eagles will also hope that fourth-round rookie Ty Robinson can step into a role similar to Ojomo’s last season, where he can play both on run downs and passing downs. Are the Eagles in good shape here relative to the rest of the league, depth-wise? As you can see above, only five interior linemen played for the Eagles in 2024, though Brandon Graham would chip in on rare occasions. The Eagles weren’t super deep along the interior of their line in 2024, but it didn’t matter because Carter was a beast who played quadruple-digit snaps, and they didn’t have any injuries otherwise. If Carter got hurt, that would be a big problem, obviously.

How many games on the Eagles’ schedule do they have a quarterback advantage in? – BGNThis season, Hurts and the Eagles will again be facing a solid group of opposing quarterbacks, topped by two-time former MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes, reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen, and rising stars Jayden Daniels, mixed with established, though considered second-tier elite starters like Matt Stafford, Justin Herbert, Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff. Geno Smith has, and can, beat the Eagles. It’s an interesting list who the Eagles and Hurts will face in 2025. Hurts is the best quarterback in the NFC East, however, it is a reign that may not last long, with the Washington Commanders’ Daniels showing remarkable poise and polish his rookie season beating the Eagles on a last-second TD pass. Dak Prescott is still formidable, just two years removed from going 12-5 as a starter, while throwing 36 touchdowns against nine interceptions for 4,516 yards. Wilson, however, is shot. The Eagles will have challenges ahead Mahomes, Allen, Daniels, Stafford, Herbert, Goff, Smith and Mayfield, who has beaten the Eagles in his last two starts against them. Here’s a look at who the Eagles will face in 2025 and a brief summary as to who the better quarterback will be.

How (and why) the Eagles pushed back, plus the story of Colts owner Jim Irsay – The AthleticWednesday morning’s “Competition and Health & Safety” session was Lurie’s chance to make a final impression — and he spent the better part of an hour making it.He began by emphasizing the need to clean up the process around the play rather than the play itself, pointing to the fact that no data supports the idea that it’s inherently more dangerous than any other play on the field. “It’s the safest play in the history of the game,” he told the room. “Whoever votes to ban this play is taking liability for putting risk on our quarterbacks.”Kelce was up next. He argued why the play should remain in the game, telling the room: “If I could run 60 tush pushes a game, I’d come back.” As for why the Packers made the proposal, high-ranking front-office sources from four teams felt Green Bay was used by the league because of their lack of a principal owner. With the Packers’ name on the proposal, other teams — and their owners — could throw their support behind it without a single owner being targeted by those who opposed it.

Saquon Barkley throws filthy alley-oop to Cooper DeJean – ESPNSaquon Barkley tosses a perfect lob to Eagles teammate Cooper DeJean.

A.J. Brown not lingering in afterglow of Super Bowl win – NBCSPDon’t get it twisted. A.J. Brown enjoyed winning the Super Bowl. He enjoyed celebrating in the Eagles’ winning locker room at the Superdome after their 40-22 win over the Chiefs. And he really enjoyed the parade on Broad Street. “The parade was very special,” Brown said this week ahead of Eagles OTAs. “I celebrated it and it was very fun. But after that moment, it was back to work, back to trying to find new ways to get better.” That’s not lip service from Brown. In fact, the Eagles’ star receiver surprised fans with an Instagram post on Feb. 12 trying to express his feelings after reaching the mountaintop. He thought he would feel fulfilled by winning a Super Bowl but his personal experience was different.

Roger Goodell: NFL will continue to study tush push – PFT“We’ll see how it plays out this season,” Goodell said. “And then we’ll come back, and we’ll discuss those as we always do every year. What’s the right way to go forward? So, I think the discussion was helpful to us and what we want to focus on this season.” In other words, it’s not over. The league will study it. The league will revisit it. And the league quite possibly will address it again, either through the Competition Committee or by nudging a team to tee it up. We believe the league office (which is run by the Commissioner) wants it to be gone. We believe nothing that happens this season will change that decidedly non-neutral point of view. If anything, the league will become more determined to get rid of it — especially if more teams commit multiple offside fouls near the goal line in an effort to stop it, or if the league can find (or manufacture) injury data to support the conclusion that the play is not safe.

Philadelphia Eagles brass can’t stop making sex analogies – Awful AnnouncingThe Philadelphia Eagles are among the most successful NFL franchises of the 21st century, coming off their second Super Bowl championship in eight seasons. So whatever they’re doing is working. That appears to include their ownership and front office making weird sex analogies at inappropriate times.

The Eagles are selling Tush Push merch. So why doesn’t any of it actually say ‘Tush Push’? – InquirerThe phrase “Tush Push,” however, is conveniently missing from the latest line of merchandise. And there’s a reason for that. The Eagles own the trademark for the phrase Brotherly Shove, but Deanna Slamans of Hummelstown, Pa., near Hershey, filed for the trademark on Tush Push before the team did. Trademark applications are assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Since Slamans filed her application a few weeks ahead of the Eagles, her request was reviewed first. According to Sportico, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in May “issued a suspension notice on the Eagles’ application, citing Slamans’ earlier filing as a ‘prior-filed potentially conflicting pending application.’”

Daily Slop – 24 May 25 – Blogging the Boys writes about the Cowboys: “this year feels different” – Hogs HavenA collection of articles, podcasts & tweets from around the web to keep you in touch with the Commanders, the NFC East, the NFL and sports in general, and a sprinkling of other stuff

HC Brian Schottenheimer’s culture has created a renewed ‘energy’ for Cowboys – Blogging The BoysQuite a few fans around Cowboys Nation wasn’t exactly thrilled with the Dallas Cowboys decision to replace Mike McCarthy with Brian Schottenheimer as the new head coach. Schottenheimer really wasn’t on anybody’s radar as a head coach candidate in the league, and yet, that is the direction Jerry Jones decided to go. As a first time head coach, Schottenheimer has a lot to prove and will have to do it under a microscope. Nearly everyone will be heavily scrutinizing every little move he makes now that he’s running the show for one of the most popular sports franchises in the entire world. Schottenheimer knows what he signed up for though, and believes he’s capable of doing the job. It’s going to be really interesting to follow his journey, and so far, early indications show that he’s off to a good start with the Cowboys. The early impact he’s making already shows positive signs he’s changing the teams culture in a positive way.

Better or worse in 2025? New York Giants wide receivers – Big Blue ViewThe Giants were 31st in the NFL in offense a season ago, and 30th the season before. Despite that, they did not overhaul the offense this offseason. The Giants, instead, sold the idea that the problem was at quarterback. That Daniel Jones and the horde of others who replaced him when he was injured, ineffective, or no longer on the roster were the problem. The wide receiver group is emblematic. It is, basically, the same group the Giants operated with in 2025. There were no major free agent signings and no wide receivers drafted. Maybe Lil’Jordan Humphrey or Zach Pascal can find roles, and maybe one of the five undrafted free agent receivers signed will make the roster, but as of now the primary receivers are the same.
