Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. has been happily married to his longtime girlfriend Maria Laborde for more than a year now. The couple will be celebrating their second wedding anniversary on Aug 31, 2025. They are proud parents to two boys, Jamal and Ronald Daniel Acuna Laborde.
Maria is the biggest supporter of Acuña Jr.’s exploits on and off the field and has been by his side through thick and thin since he made his MLB debut in 2018. For the first time in over a year, Acuña Jr. was prepared to take to the field inside Truist Park after a long absence from the diamond.
He made his first start of the 2025 MLB campaign in the series opener against the San Diego Padres on Friday night, and it’s safe to say that the star OF didn’t disappoint the home crowd as he turned on the magic in his first at-bat of the game.
Maria Laborde Celebrates Ronald Acuña Jr.’s First Pitch Home Run
RF Acuña Jr. was the leadoff hitter for the Braves in the series opener against the Padres on Friday evening. This was his first major league game since May 2024, when he suffered an ACL tear in his left knee, and that injury had sidelined him for the entirety of the 2024 MLB season.
The OF looked steady at the plate when he came off the deck for his first at-bat, and boy, did he entertain the Braves faithful inside Truist Park. Acuña Jr. deposited a first-pitch four-seam fastball from Padres starter Nick Pivetta into the left-center field stands to give the Braves a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
The Braves’ official Instagram page shared an official post of the home run, captioned as “FIRST-PITCH HOMER.” Acuña Jr.’s wife was in the stands as she celebrated the first-pitch home run and shared the recording of the home run from her vantage point inside the stadium on Friday evening.
She had also shared a couple of stories on her Instagram account showcasing a fit check and glamour quotient for her husband’s big day in the 2025 MLB season.
She wore a white top with a red jacket for the game day. After all, it was an outstanding start to the 2025 MLB season for the former Braves MVP.
Acuña Jr. Will be Aiming to Stay Healthy for the Rest of the Campaign
Acuña Jr. finished Friday’s game with two hits off four at-bats and looked comfortable with his stance and swing at the plate. The four-time All-Star has been the face of the organization since his breakout season in 2019, but injuries in the past have limited his playing time considerably.
A fit Acuña Jr. is a dangerous player on the field on any given day, and the Braves will be hopeful that their superstar OF can build on his start on Friday and possibly assist them in securing a playoff spot later in the season.
