He was ably supported by Tilak Varma (27 off 27) during the middle phase, and then by Naman Dhir, whose explosive cameo of 24 unbeaten from just 8 balls provided the late acceleration Mumbai needed. The opening contributions from Ryan Rickelton (25 off 18) and Will Jacks (21 off 13) provided the platform, though MI lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite DC using six bowlers, none could stem the flow of runs in the back end. Chasing a daunting 181 on a surface offering bounce and turn, Delhi had a disastrous start, losing Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul within the first three overs. The top order’s inability to absorb pressure was evident as Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs fell cheaply, with Santner striking key blows in the middle overs.
