The Los Angeles Clippers started strong against the Denver Nuggets but fizzled out in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. One of the key contributors to the team has been 36-year-old Nicolas Batum. Moreover, the Clippers have an aging lineup and are the third oldest team in the NBA, with an average age of 27.358.
However, a recent report emerged saying the veteran French basketball player will hang up his sneakers after the 2025-26 season. He has a contract for next season, but it’s a player option, and he will probably step away from the game.
If Batum decides to permanently closet his uniform, he will likely enjoy spending the rest of his years with his family. Let’s explore his wife and kids ahead of the possible retirement.
Meet Aurélie Batum
Born in the commune of Lisieux, France, Batum was destined to become a basketball player. However, he lost his biggest support system, his father, Richard Batum, who was a professional basketball player in France. Richard collapsed on the free-throw line and passed away in a “terrible memory” that Nicolas witnessed from the stands. The trauma became hard to deal with, and Batum switched his attention to basketball.
He became a solid player and married his long-time girlfriend, Aurélie Batum. During some very challenging and extraordinary moments, Batum stated that his wife became the go-to person for comfort and advice.
They started dating in 2013, after Batum broke up with his first wife. He married Melanie Pimentel in 2011; however, they ended their marriage in 2013 after two years.
The couple is happily married and has two children — a son, Ayden Richard Batum, and a daughter, Nayeli Batum. Aurélie has often been seen sitting courtside to cheer on her husband and show him support during games.

Batum’s Illustrious NBA Career Might Come to a Close
Throughout his career, Batum has been an outstanding role player for four different NBA franchises. Whether shooting from the three-point line or backing guys up inside the paint, he uses his footwork to perfection.
In Game 3 against the Denver Nuggets, Batum turned back the clock to score 12 points, adding five rebounds, three blocks, and four three-pointers. It became a masterful display of what Batum was all about.
The NBA will miss him if and when Batum calls it quits. According to Eurohoops, that final ride will come next season (2025-26) since his contract with the Clippers is up.
“There’s a very, very good chance that the next season will be my last,” Batum said in an interview with BeinSports.
