The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Denver Nuggets 125-93 in Game 7 to win the series 4-3 on Sunday.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a game-high 35 points in the win.
“I was nervous, to be honest,” said Gilgeous-Alexander. “Just knowing what was on the line. …To know if you don’t bring your A-game, it could all be over. But I think that nervousness motivated me.”
The Thunder were down 21-10 after missing 10 out of their first 15 shots. The team then went on an 18-5 run in the second quarter to take a 60-46 lead into halftime.
Jalen Williams scored 11 out of 18 points during the run. The Thunder averaged 1.50 points per possession when Williams had the ball.
In total, the Thunder made 27 layups and dunks in Game 7.Â
Alex Caruso also guarded Nikola Jokic for 40 half-court matchups in the game.Â
“It’s a lot of hard work,” Caruso said. “Obviously, he’s a phenomenal player. His résumé speaks for itself, but he’s a difficult matchup because he just does so many different things to get others involved and to influence the game.
The Thunder open against the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday.
