Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

2025 NFL schedule release: Top 10 prime-time games – NFL.com10) EAGLES vs. COWBOYS — Week 1: Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. The 2025 NFL Kickoff Game’s placement on this list is perfunctory, as it will capture our attention throughout the summer. When we’re in the dog days, waiting on training camp arrivals in July, we can look to this NFC East opener as what could be, and what will be, if only we wait a few more months. The matchup is one we’ve seen before — many times in prime time — but not as frequently in this form as one might think. Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott have only faced off thrice in their careers (the Cowboys QB is 2-1 in those matchups); one of the two QBs has missed seven of 10 potential meetings with injury or rest. The timing of this Week 1 clash ensures, barring unfortunate circumstances, that two of the league’s best will be available for an early-season litmus test between division rivals. […] 7) EAGLES at PACKERS: Week 10: Monday, Nov. 10 at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC. Will Philly run the Tush Push on every play? This midseason rematch of the NFC Wild Card Game is more than just a clash of conference blue bloods and perennial playoff teams. After losing to the Eagles in the 2024 postseason, Green Bay was the team to propose a ban this offseason on the near-unstoppable play synonymous with Philly’s offense. As of publication, the rule proposal has been tabled and is set to be taken up again at next week’s Spring League Meeting. Matt LaFleur and Nick Sirianni each have their camps, lobbying for and against a ban of the Eagles’ lethal scrum, respectively. Whether or not a ban is ultimately instituted, there will likely be underlying bad blood seeping into this Monday night matchup, making it must-watch TV. […] 2) EAGLES vs. LIONS: Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 16 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. The NFC Championship Game that should’ve been. No offense to backers of the Washington franchise, but NFL fans were cheated out of a matchup between the conference’s two most dynamic offenses last January when the Commanders took out the Lions’ kneecaps in the Divisional Round. We’ll finally get our Detroit-Philadelphia matchup in 2025, albeit without both of the Lions’ coordinators and a number of Eagles stars who departed in the offseason. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley remain, however, to face off against Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in a showdown of smashmouth outfits. This long-lost matchup — the franchises’ first since 2022 (a 73-point barnburner between two unrecognizable sides) — could have easily been the NFL’s Kickoff Game if the league had not opted for the allure of Brian Schottenheimer. But we’ll take it in Week 11. Hell, we’ll take it right now.

2026 NFL Mock Draft: Very early projections for next year’s first round – BGNPhiladelphia Eagles – David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech: If the Eagles repeat as Super Bowl champions, it means their pass rush probably didn’t miss Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham all that much. Still, can’t have enough of these guys in the wings.

Eagles Autism Challenge raises a record $10 million in 2025 – NBCSPThe 8th annual Eagles Autism Challenge set a record, raising over $10 million, the team announced Saturday afternoon. In all, the Eagles Autism Challenge has raised more than $40 million since its inception in 2018. All money raised goes directly to Autism research and care for those affected by it. The Challenge has grown tremendously in recent years. In 2022, the event raised what was then a record $4.1 million. The 2023 Challenge raised $6.2 million and last year’s raised $8.1 million. So that’s about $27 million just since 2022.

Six NFL win total over-unders I like – PhillyVoiceCommanders (over-under 9.5): The Commanders won four games in 2023. In 2024, they won 12. That was the biggest win total improvement in the NFL last season. It tied for the 9th best improvement since the NFL went to a 16-game schedule. Here’s a look at all the teams that have had improvements of 8 or wins in a season, and then what those teams did the year after their big improvements (again, since the NFL went to at least 16-game schedule). Only the 1996-1998 Jets had an improvement once again after their initial breakout season. On average, the above teams experienced a decrease of 3.9 wins the following season. For the under to hit, the Commanders only have to lose three fewer games, and it’s probably worth noting that they had some lucky wins last season. Put me down for the under. UNDER 9.5.

Trying to make sense of the Cowboys contrasting roster-building approaches – Blogging The BoysGreen with envy: It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles are very aggressive in their roster-building approach. Cowboys’ fans alternate between jealousy and laughing at them, depending on their results. Right now, it’s envy. We have spent quite a bit explaining how the Eagles have chosen to borrow a ridiculous amount of cap resources from future years by adding so many void years to their players’ contracts. The Eagles already have the most cash allocated to players in each of the next three years, with over $700 million on their books. No other team is close to that. While the Cowboys’ front office has been more active this year, they aren’t changing their ways and following the Eagles’ approach. They are just doing more of what they do, which still consists of careful spending. There were no big outside free agent purchases, nor did they manipulate contracts by excessively using void years. The Cowboys are still doing Cowboys things, but they’re just doing a little more of it.

2025 NFL schedule release: Judging overreactions to matchups – ESPNThe Cowboys could have a very unhappy holiday season. Dallas has a Week 10 bye, which is just about the ideal time to have one. The Cowboys also come out of it to play on a Monday night (in Las Vegas). So, the Cowboys will have 13 days off before starting the second half of their season. They’d better rest up … After the Raiders game, the Cowboys have a home matchup against the Eagles on short rest then a Thanksgiving Day game against the visiting Chiefs on even shorter rest. So after nearly two weeks without playing, they’ll have three games in 11 days, with two of those coming against last season’s Super Bowl teams. Then they’re at Detroit the following Thursday before home games against the Vikings and Chargers in Weeks 15 and 16. Dallas is then at Washington on Christmas Day on another Sunday-to-Thursday turnaround before finishing with a likely layup against the Giants in New Jersey. Verdict: NOT AN OVERREACTION I mean, even acknowledging the fact that all the same teams that were good last season aren’t sure to be good again this season, that is a rough stretch. Three short-week games in the final six weeks of the season is no team’s idea of a good time. All four of the Cowboys’ post-bye road games are in different time zones than the one they play in. And all four of their post-bye home games are against teams that made the playoffs last season. If the Cowboys want to take their turn in the annual flip-flopping of the NFC East title between them and Philadelphia, they might have to build up a big pre-bye division lead.

Dru Phillips named New York Giants’ most underrated player – Big Blue View“Phillips was one of just eight cornerbacks to rank in the top 25 in PFF coverage grade (75.8) and PFF run-defense grade (78.1) in 2024 and one of just three (Cooper DeJean and Kyler Gordon) to do it while spending the majority of his snaps in the slot, where his run-defense skills come into play more often.” Phillips is an excellent choice, with his ability perhaps hidden by how poorly the Giants played as a team. It’s hard to actually find other players who should have been considered. Micah McFadden? Jermaine Eluemunor?

Friday Question: Which athlete do you hate the most? – SB NationIn a perfect world there’d be no hate. I don’t know if John Lennon said that, or Elmo from Sesame Street. Obviously we all should aspire to hate less and love more, but when it comes to sports that’s not an option. Naturally there are athletes we just grow to hate with a red-hot passion. People who get our blood boiling every single time they set food on the field, court, ice, or whatever playing surface is on offer. Today we thought we’d share stories of the players we will never forgive and still haunt us to this day.
