Johnny Fisher vs Dave Allen: Undercard and Main Event Results on May 17

Johnny Fisher vs Dave Allen

After renditions of My Way, Fields of Gold, Truly Madly Deeply and Take Me Home, Country Road, the scene was set for Johnny Fisher (13-1, 11 KOs) vs Dave Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs). It was a mostly cagey opening round, but two right hands from Allen and his forward movement edged it in his favour. It was much better from Fisher over the next two rounds, as he fought long but also worked the body of Allen well on the inside.

The fourth round saw Fisher use the ring well and jab effectively. Allen almost landed with a monster right hand, reminding Fisher of the threat he poses.

Allen came out the fifth and began to get up close to Fisher and work inside, before landing huge looping shots and vicious hooks, knocking Fisher down. He struggled to make the count and Allen pounced and with just seconds left in the fifth he landed two huge shots knocking Fisher out right on the bell with a monster left hand, with the towel also flying in from Fisher’s corner.

What a win (TKO) for the Doncaster De La Hoya!

George Liddard vs Aaron Sutton

Next up was George Liddard (12-0, 7 KOs) taking on Aaron Sutton (19-2, 3 KOs) in a British title eliminator, with the Commonwealth Silver middleweight title also up for grabs. The chief support of the evening began in explosive fashion, as Liddard landed a beautifully timed left hook to drop Sutton. The Bristol native tried to respond later in the round, but it was a dream round for Liddard.

The Essex fighter continued to dominate in the second, landing a big right hand, scoring another knockdown. Sutton remained brave and fired back, but the power came from Liddard.

Sutton worked more of his jab in the next couple of rounds, but the more hurtful shots came from Liddard. The fifth round proved to be the end of the road for Sutton, with Liddard landing a peach of a right hand, leading to Sutton’s corner to throw the towel in. An impressive showing from the 22-year-old Essex fighter, who showed poise and power.

Kieron Conway vs Gerome Warburton

It was middleweight action again as Kieron Conway (23-3-1, 7 KOs) faced Gerome Warburton (15-2-2, 2 KOs) for the Commonwealth title and the vacant British strap. Warburton settled well in the first round, establishing distance using his southpaw stance, landing sharp punches. Conway looked comfortable when he fought up close.

It was an impressive third round from Conway, who began to plant his feet and pick his shots with more venom. “Too Class” increased the pressure, landing punishing body shots, which had the Bodelwyddan native in trouble and forced him to the canvas. The referee waved it off as the towel came in from Warburton’s corner. It was an impressive defence of his Commonwealth crown while claiming the British middleweight title by fourth-round TKO.

Jimmy Sains vs Gideon Onyenani

First up on the main DAZN undercard was the hard-hitting Jimmy Sains (10-0, 9 KOs) vs Gideon Onyenani (7-5, 0 KOs) for the vacant Southern Area middleweight title. It was a quiet opening round, but Sains worked well up close, with this pattern continuing into the second round. Early on, he timed his punches well.

Sains increased the pressure in the fifth, applying intelligent pressure while landing some hurtful shots. Onyenani was competitive in all the rounds, but Sains outworked him, landing the more eye-catching blows. As the fight reached the final few rounds, Sains continued to pick his punches well and didn’t rush his work. It was a comfortable win against a tough opponent, providing experience for the Romford native. The judges’ scorecard reflected the dominance of Sains with scores of 100-90, 100-91 and 98-92, crowning him the new Southern Area middleweight champion.

John Hedges vs Nathan Quarless

In the final fight of Before the Bell it was John Hedges (11-0, 3 KOs) vs Nathan Quarless (13-2, 0 KOs) for the vacant English cruiserweight title. Hedges quickly took the centre of the ring and worked effectively behind his lead hand for the rest of the opening round.

He maintained the distance well, with Quarless struggling to find his rhythm. The Liverpudlian had moments of success when he stepped in and landed clearly, but they were too few and far between.

Despite Quarless attempting to apply pressure, Hedges controlled the tempo of the fight. Both fighters heard the final bell, but Hedges was the only winner, and the judge’s cards reflected that with scores of 99-92, 98-92 and 97-93, all in favour of “The Gentleman.” A comfortable victory for the Harlow native.

Taylor Bevan vs Juan Cruz Cacheiro

The exciting Taylor Bevan (4-0, 4 KOs) was next in the super middleweight division against Juan Cruz Cacheiro (7-5, 3 KOs). Bevan got off to a good start, taking the centre of the ring and varying his shots impressively.

Cacheiro tried to trade punches with Bevan in the second, but the accuracy and power from the Southampton native were too much and the referee soon stepped in to wave the fight off, awarding Bevan the victory by second round TKO.

Leli Buttegieg vs Novak Radulovic

It was the turn of the middleweights next, with the exciting Leli Buttegieg (9-0, 3 KOs) facing Novak Radulovic (20-13-1, 8 KOs). Buttegieg started well and took the centre of the ring, looking to establish his jab. A big left hook from the Londoner stiffened his opponent’s legs, who just about stayed on his feet and made it to the end of the opening round.

The second round saw continued dominance from Buttegieg, who landed a huge right uppercut-left hook combination that stunned his opponent, who ate another hook before falling to the canvas. The Serbian was ultimately saved by the bell.

The London fighter continued to pick his shots well into the third without much coming back, and the referee had seen enough, stepping in to wave the fight off. It was a very impressive performance from “The Maltese Monster,” who showed poise and composure throughout, winning by TKO.

Shannon Ryan vs Fara El Bousairi

Shannon Ryan (9-1, 1 KOs) vs Fara El Bousairi (10-6, 3 KOs) kicked off the night in the women’s super flyweight division. During the first three rounds, Ryan boxed well and moved in and out of range effectively.

Ryan was the victim of a controversial knockdown in the third round but reasserted her dominance in the fourth, landing the right hand almost at will. Bousairi attempted to apply pressure over the next few rounds, but Ryan remained elusive, picking her shots and moving well. The Spanish fighter looked to plant her feet and land one big shot, but struggled to find Ryan.

El Bousairi gave everything she had in the final round, but “Kaos” proved too slick and continued to move and box impressively. It went to the scorecard, which read 77-74 in favour of the Brit.
